1957 witnessed second General Elections to Indian Parliament. By that time, Hindu Marriage Act and Hindu Succession Act were already forced on Hindus against their wishes and to destroy their their own inherent traditions.
Jana Sangh under the leadership of Debaprasad Ghosh, in its Election Manifesto for 1957 General Elections had promised to repeal those anti-hindu Hindu Civil Codes forced on Hindus without their consent.
